There has been an uptike of usage of either E-Bike and E-Scooter as modes of transportation in the town. We want all our motorists, pedestrians, and operators of E-Bikes, E-Scooters, or mopeds to be safe.
The Town of Geddes Police Dept has shared the New York State Laws outlining usage of these modes of transportation.
To summarize the main things to keep in mind are:
- OPERATORS MUST BE 16 years or older
- Required to use bike lanes whenever possible
- Cannot operate on sidewalks
- Cannot operate on public streets or highways in NYS
- Must ride single file (no doubling up)
- Must have front and rear lights
