Highway Department
Welcome to the Highway Department Home Page. We have tried to answer as many of your questions as possible. Our department maintains all Town Roads, snow removal, and road signs.
We have made some modifications to our curbside pick-ups. These modifications to our pick-ups were discussed at length with the entire Town Board. They agree that, due to the fact that we have reduced our number of employees at the Highway Dept. (5 since 2006) and the budget constraints our Town is faced with, these modifications are imperative in keeping the current level of service that all residents now have.
We all must realize that our Highway Department also maintains 45 miles of roads along with catch basin repairs, repaving, drain pipe repairs, new installations of drainage systems, and maintaining all the parks in our Town, along with the all of the curbside pick-up services.
We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
Mark Kolakowski,
Highway Superintendent
***If you have a complaint or question you would like to email to the Highway Department, please direct your emails to the Supervisor’s office. We will then forward all emails to the Highway Department. ***
** Please Note** Only wind damage and Christmas trees will be picked up curbside from December 1 to April 1. Due to weather conditions, all other curbside pick-ups must be called in to the Town of Geddes Highway Department at 488-7705 between 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Monday through Friday at this time of year

New Guidelines for the Town of Geddes Highway Department:
The Town of Geddes is faced with a $2.9 million reduction in revenue as a result of the new 10 year sales tax agreement that was unanimously approved by the Onondaga County Legislature on May 4, 2010. This reduction in sales tax revenue to the Town of Geddes will be phased in over the next few years, beginning with 2011 and eventual elimination of sales tax revenue in year 2013. The elimination of this revenue source has severe negative implications on the Town of Geddes’ operating budget and spending plan. A committee has been formed to analyze the operations of each department of the Town to identify means, to either increase revenue or reduce expenses. As a result of recommendations made by the Highway Committee, the Town Board has approved refinements to the current curbside pick-up routine. These refinements will allow the Highway Department to continue to provide Town of Geddes residents with quality services in an efficient and cost effective manner.
