Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes – March 2010

Meeting called to order @ 6:15pm.


1.  Resolution Requested:

Chief Gillette requested authorization for a resolution to declare 16 portable police radios and 10 mobile police radios as surplus equipment.   The radios are being replaced with OCICS digital radio network at no cost to the Town of Geddes.

Action Taken:

The Committee unanimously approved the request to include on the April 2010 Town Board Agenda


2.  Resolution Requested:

Chief Gillette requested authorization for a resolution to donate 6 surplus portable radios to the National Ski Patrol, a not for profit organization, for their ski patrol use.

Action Taken:

The Committee unanimously approved the request to include on the April 2010 Town Board Agenda


3.  Antenna Tower and Cabling:

Councilor Palerino asked that the Town consider a resolution to declare the antenna tower as surplus equipment and sell to the highest bidder after following public notice procedures.

Action Taken:

The Committee decided to refer the matter to the Highway committee for recommendation

4.  Update on new police vehicle:

Chief Gillette reported that the 30 day window for bids on the new cruiser has not yet expired.

Action Taken: No action necessary

5.  Staffing:

Chief Gillette updated the Committee:

2 patrolmen will be returning to work in March of 2010.  One will be assuming light duty and another will be returning to full duty

Action Taken: No action necessary

6.  Satisfaction Survey:

Satisfaction survey is complete.  The results are being tabulated. Preliminary reports are that the responses are overwhelmingly positive.
